We are a dispensing practice and dispense for the majority of our patients except for those living in Sherburn-in-Elmet, South Milford and Thorpe Willoughby
Patients on regular medication do not always need to see a doctor for a repeat of their medicines. To request a repeat of your prescription you can; hand in your slip at reception, ring the main surgery number and use the automated repeat prescription option (please note you must get a PIN number from the surgery first) or you can register to order online. Please note repeat prescription requests will not be accepted outside these times and will not be accepted by staff on the main phone line at any time.
If you have difficulty using the above options please contact us and we can discuss other options, for example if you use our dispensary or a local pharmacy they have managed prescriptions services where they will order the repeat medication for you saving you the trouble of having to conatct the surgery
Prescriptions can be collected whenever the surgeries are open.
PLEASE NOTE—we need 48 hours to process your prescription but we aim to have all prescriptions ready to collect within 48 hours. Sometimes you may be asked to come in and see the doctor before a prescription can be issued.
Electronic Prescription Service for Non-Dispensing Patients
If a patient wishes they can nominate a chosen pharmacy and their prescription can be sent electronically from the surgery to the pharmacy so that the patient does not have to come to the surgery to pick it up. This service is available for most patients, however there are certain types of drugs that cannot be ordered in this way and if you are prescribed those items you would continue with the present system.
If you are a patient for whom the surgery dispenses your medication, then this would continue without any change. You do not need to change how your medication is ordered and dispensed.
If you would like to use the Electronic Prescription system then you need to call into your chosen pharmacy and set up your nomination with them. This should be done at the pharmacy and not at the surgery.

Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs). The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
From 1 April 2018, the charges are:
If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months, or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC. The charge for a single prescription item is £8.80, whereas a three month PPC will cost you £29.10 and a 12 month PPC £104.00.
There is further information about prescription exemptions and fees on the NHS website
Please allow 48 hours, excluding weekends and Bank Holidays, for your request to be processed. Any problems please telephone the surgery.
